Vasyl Stefanyk Carpathian National University has officially confirmed the signing of a new Memorandum of Cooperation with the University of Stuttgart (Germany). The acting rector of the university, Professor Ihor Tsependa, and the rector of the University of Stuttgart, Professor Peter Middendorf (Prof. Dr. Ing. Peter Middendorf), executed the agreement.
This Memorandum establishes the foundation for a new phase of bilateral cooperation, specifically supporting the implementation of a joint four-year project, “StuttWay4Ukraine” (Deutsch-Ukrainisches Hochschulnetzwerk) — “Stuttgart on the Way for Ukraine” (German-Ukrainian Higher Education Network).
The project is scheduled to begin at the start of the 2025–2026 academic year. The Department of German Philology will participate in the project on behalf of the Carpathian University, and the Institute of Linguistics/German Studies will participate on behalf of the University of Stuttgart.
The Memorandum outlines the following areas of cooperation:
- Academic exchange of professors, researchers, and students;
- Joint development and exchange of educational materials and publications;
- Mutual participation in scientific events;
- Creation of joint courses and implementation of assistantship programs.
The StuttWay4Ukraine project represents a further step toward the deeper integration of Ukrainian universities into the European educational space. It will leverage modern digital solutions to support both asynchronous and synchronous learning formats, enabling students from both universities to collaborate on joint educational trajectories.
We note that this Memorandum represents the second cooperation agreement between Carpathian University and the University of Stuttgart.
Previously, the institutions had signed an agreement on academic mobility within the Erasmus+ program.
The motto “Every finish is, in fact, a start” served as the inspiration for this event, symbolizing that the conclusion of one academic year marks the commencement of a new phase in international cooperation.
