University professors visited Lithuania on a study trip

Professors Nadiya Lutsan and Anna Struk from the Faculty of Education at Prykarpattia National University visited Lithuania as part of a study trip for their work on the Erasmus+ Cooperation Project mentUwell – Preserving Youth Mental Wellbeing in Wartime Migration Crisis.

The meeting with partners took place at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius.

Professor Lutsan was deeply impressed by the modern and welcoming educational environment of Mykolas Romeris University, which fosters students’ mental well-being. The visit also highlighted the significant efforts of Lithuanian colleagues in adapting and providing comprehensive support to refugees from Ukraine.

Under their leadership, a strong network of international and national partners, local communities, humanitarian initiatives, educational programs, and cultural projects aimed at preserving Ukraine’s heritage in Lithuania continues to expand and thrive.

A school for Ukrainian children, Gravitas Schola, was organized within the university, combining the curricula of Lithuanian (70%) and Ukrainian (30%) schools.

Ukrainian teachers also work at the school, and Ukrainian language lessons are mandatory. During their stay, they visited the Ukrainian Centre, located on Taras Shevchenko Street. Despite the centre having only been operating for a year, its achievements are significant. During this period, 671 different events were held at the Ukrainian Centre, and more than 2,500 Ukrainians received psychological assistance and counselling.

The center operates a Saturday school, a youth think tank, a summer camp, and the Maria Children’s Choir, fostering educational and creative development among young people. It also maintains an active network of cooperation among Ukrainians at both local and international levels.
