Precarpathian National University hosted the training in robotics for children under MoPED project

On January 13, the Center of Innovative Educational Technologies ”PNU EcoSystem” of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University hosted a workshop for children on robotics to promote STEAM education. The event was a part of an european project of the EU Erasmus + «Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments (MoPED)» (No. 586098-EPP-1-2017-1-UA-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP).

The training began with a Ukrainian Christmas carols and sincere greetings of our school students, who were welcomed by Professor Galyna Mykhailyshyn, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work of the university.

The training participants worked on creating robots in pairs in two groups. The youngest, as born researchers and inventors, willingly studied the basics of mechanics based on the constructor ”Simple mechanisms”; teens designed and programmed robots based on WeDo 2.0 kits and LEGO Education software. According to Mykhaylo Kotyk, a trainer, Candidate of Engineering, a team member of the Center “PNU EcoSystem”, it is in these types of activities children have great opportunities for creative development and engineering thinking training. Robotics is the science without which the future of our children cannot be imagined. Children must be able to design and program robots since an early age.

All the participants received certificates for participation in the robotics class.
